Michael Jackson will be honoured with a permanent memorial at the site of his first ever gig - the famed Apollo Theater in New York City.
The late superstar first took to the stage at the venue in 1969 with his pop siblings when they were billed as The Jackson Brothers.
The group went on to win an amateur singing competition there two years later and the appearance launched the career of the Jackson 5. The pop superstar returned to the Apollo on numerous occasions throughout his career.
Fans gathered at the building in the days after Jackson’s sudden death in June (09) and now bosses at the venue have decided to erect a permanent tribute to the star by inducting him into their Walk of Fame.
A plaque to commemorate the star’s achievements will be erected on the tribute wall next year (10).
Apollo Theatre president Jonelle Procope, says, “Fans from all over the world (came) to express their memories, grief and condolences for the King of Pop. The wall became a part of that tribute and is now truly a piece of history.”
Fall Out Boy singer Patrick Stump has been arrested in Hollywood over a motoring offense.
The Dance, Dance hitmaker was taken into custody on Tuesday night (25Aug09) by Beverly Hills police officers for an outstanding traffic warrant.
The rocker was held at West Hollywood Sheriff’s station on a $15,000 bail bond, according to TMZ.com.

Women’s rights campaigners have blasted the sentence handed to Chris Brown for his attack on Rihanna, insisting the R&B star should have been jailed.
Brown was given six months hard community labour, five years probation, and ordered to stay away from the Umbrella hitmaker after pleading guilty to felony assault.
He threatened to kill the singer and repeatedly punched, bit, and slapped her during the horrifying attack in his car after a pre-Grammy Awards party in Los Angeles in February (09).
Brown admitted the assault in June (09) and was sentenced at an L.A. court on Tuesday (25Aug09) after striking a deal with prosecutors.
But campaigners have criticised his punishment, insisting it sends the wrong message to perpetrators of domestic abuse.

Eddie Cibrian’s estranged wife has accepted the actor’s demand for a divorce - just after hearing her husband is planning a romantic Mexican vacation with alleged new girlfriend Leann Rimes.
Rumours have been flying around Cibrian and Rimes ever since the pair were caught kissing during a break from filming their TV movie Northern Lights in March (09) while still married to their prospective partners.
The pair hit out at the reports, but both subsequently split from their spouses.
And Cibrian’s wife Brandi Glanville insists she is keen to go along with her husband’s decision to divorce, confirming that he filed for a legal separation earlier this week (24Aug09).

Mel Gibson’s girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is suing a man who sold snaps of the model’s lingerie shoot without her permission.
The singer/former model filed suit against Samuel Oriti on Tuesday (25Aug09) at a Los Angeles court claiming that the photographer agreed not to distribute the images to anyone other than staff at the lingerie company she believed she was modelling for.
The shoot took place in 2004, with Oriti claiming he was in the middle of agreeing a deal with a well-known underwear retailer. Grigorieva agreed to do the shoot for the company on the strength of the snapper’s reputation, according to Radaronline.com.
However, despite reportedly agreeing not to distribute the sexy snaps, Oriti allegedly sold them after Grigorieva became well-known as Gibson’s new lover.
A judge overseeing the trial of Miley Cyrus’ alleged stalker has refused to reduce his $55,200 bond - because he considers him “a danger” to society.
Mark McLeod, 53, was arrested twice for hounding the Disney star on the set of her latest movie The Last Song.
He was taken into custody in August (09), just weeks after he was cautioned by cops in June (09) for making “inappropriate comments” to young Cyrus fans.
McLeod had also told officers he was engaged to the young star and that she sent him secret messages through her TV show, Hannah Montana.
And in his preliminary hearing on Tuesday (25Aug09), investigators told Judge Steven Scheer that McLeod had told security personnel that he would be returning to the set and “finishing things,” which he saw as a threat to Cyrus.
Judge Scheer agreed that McLeod was a threat to himself and others, telling the court, “I can’t deny him bond, but if I could I would because I do feel he’s a danger.”
He then refused to lower the bail amount, and decided that there was enough evidence for the case to go to Chatham County State Court, Georgia.
The 16-year-old Hannah Montana star was granted a temporary restraining order against McLeod earlier this month (Aug09).
