The director behind Metallica’s gripping movie Some Kind Of Monster has teamed up with Sting’s wife Trudie Styler to shoot a new documentary about the destruction of the rainforest.
The film, Crude, chronicles an eye-opening trip Joe Berlinger and Styler took to Ecuador, and the activist actress/producer admits some of the sights she witnessed will haunt her forever.
She says, “I saw the most appalling human rights violations I’ve ever witnessed.
“I’ve seen some pretty grim sights, but nothing could prepare me for the sight of indigenous people with no access to clean water who have been systematically poisoned.”
Screen legend Lauren Bacall is urging vampire fans to check out 1920s horror movies - because the Twilight blood-suckers pale in comparison to classic monsters.
The Hollywood veteran sat down to watch the 2008 blockbuster to check out the cinematic craze her grandchildren were so excited about.
But she was disappointed after watching the movie, starring hunk Robert Pattinson, and sat her granddaughter down to give her a lesson in frightening films.
Bacall writes on her Twitter.com page, “Yes, I saw Twilight - my granddaughter made me watch it, she said it was the greatest vampire film ever. After the ‘film’ was over I wanted to smack her across her head with my shoe, but I do not want a (tell-all) book called Grannie Dearest written on me when I die. So instead I gave her a DVD of Murnau’s 1922 masterpiece Nosferatu and told her, ‘Now that’s a vampire film!’ And that goes for all of you! Watch Nosferatu instead!”
Megan Fox has become the latest star tipped to take on the role of Catwoman in a forthcoming Batman movie.
The sexy star is rumoured to be in the running for the part, if The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan decides to resurrect the legendary comic book character, last portrayed on film by Halle Berry in 2004’s Catwoman.
Actress Michelle Pfeiffer also suited up to play the villainous femme fatale in the 1992 blockbuster Batman Returns.
According to British tabloid The Sun, 23-year-old Fox will step into the famous PVC catsuit to join Christian Bale and Michael Caine when filming begins next year (10).
The as-yet-untitled project is expected in cinemas in 2011.
Naomi Watts was “horrified” when she first saw her partner Liev Schreiber dressed as a woman for his upcoming movie Taking Woodstock.
The Scream star had to shave his body hair and wear ladies clothing to play an ex-Marine transvestite in the upcoming comedy.
Schreiber’s longterm girlfriend, and mother of his two children, was in shock when she saw his transformation.
He says, “She was horrified! It flipped her out. She was in shock for 30 seconds. Then she started to crack jokes.”
And the actor also struggled to accept his new image: “It was exhilaratingly humiliating. But I completely became giddy in a strange way the moment I put on the dress. Vanity quickly set in, and I thought to myself, ‘I wish my belly was flatter’. Let’s face it, I don’t look great in a dress, but it’s nice to hear I have nice legs.
“The shoes are awful. But for a 6-foot-3-inch (tall) man, to walk around in stilettos is nearly impossible. But women have no idea what it’s like for a grown hairy man to remove all of his hair from his body. Now that hurts!”
Action man-turned-California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has paid an emotional tribute to Senator Edward Kennedy, who died on Tuesday (25Aug09).
The Democrat, the last of the late John F. Kennedy’s brothers, passed away aged 77 following a long battle with brain cancer.
Schwarzenegger, who is married to Kennedy’s niece Maria, was devastated to hear the news - branding Kennedy “the rock” of the family whose “legacy will live on”.
A statement from the star reads, “Maria and I are immensely saddened by the passing of Uncle Teddy. He was known to the world as the Lion of the Senate, a champion of social justice, and a political icon.
“Most importantly, he was the rock of our family: a loving husband, father, brother and uncle. He was a man of great faith and character. Teddy inspired our country through his dedication to health care reform, his commitment to social justice, and his devotion to a life of public service.
“I have personally benefited and grown from his experience and advice, and I know countless others have as well. Teddy taught us all that public service isn’t a hobby or even an occupation, but a way of life and his legacy will live on.”
President Barack Obama is also coming to terms with Kennedy’s passing, insisting he and his wife Michelle were “heartbroken” to hear the sad news and has sent his condolences to his extended family.
Obama has credited his fellow Democrat with helping him win his race for Presidency earlier this year (Jan09) - and insists America has “lost a great leader”.
He says, “Michelle and I were heartbroken to learn this morning of the death of our dear friend, Senator Ted Kennedy… I cherished his confidence and momentous support in my race for the Presidency. And even as he waged a valiant struggle with a mortal illness, I’ve profited as President from his encouragement and wisdom.
“An important chapter in our history has come to an end. Our country has lost a great leader, who picked up the torch of his fallen brothers and became the greatest United States Senator of our time. The Kennedy family has lost their patriarch, a tower of strength and support through good times and bad.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to them today - to his wonderful wife, Vicki, his children Ted Jr., Patrick and Kara, his grandchildren and his extended family.”

The movie hunk faces a weighty battle to lose a pile of pounds (kilograms) for his new movie Inception, which has been written by The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan.
A set insider tells RadarOnline.com, “There’s an action scene coming up at the end of the year in which he needs to appear emaciated, so the pressure is on.
“Leo isn’t the kind of guy who can just lose a radical amount of weight… He’s following a strict diet and is embarking on a rigorous workout regime.

Mel Gibson’s girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva is suing a man who sold snaps of the model’s lingerie shoot without her permission.
The singer/former model filed suit against Samuel Oriti on Tuesday (25Aug09) at a Los Angeles court claiming that the photographer agreed not to distribute the images to anyone other than staff at the lingerie company she believed she was modelling for.
The shoot took place in 2004, with Oriti claiming he was in the middle of agreeing a deal with a well-known underwear retailer. Grigorieva agreed to do the shoot for the company on the strength of the snapper’s reputation, according to Radaronline.com.
However, despite reportedly agreeing not to distribute the sexy snaps, Oriti allegedly sold them after Grigorieva became well-known as Gibson’s new lover.
