The online sale of the crypt above movie icon Marilyn Monroe’s final resting place has fallen through after the bidder failed to come up with the cash.
Elsie Poncher put the crypt where her husband Richard has been buried since 1986 up for auction on eBay.com earlier this month (Aug09) for $500,000 - and the price quickly spiralled into the millions as Monroe fans desperately tried to buy the plot.
A sale through the auction website was confirmed on 24 August (09) - with the crypt selling for $4.6 million.
But the buyer, who is an unidentified bidder from Japan, has pulled out, leaving Poncher to seek for the next highest bid.
It is believed 28 other people tried to enter big-buck amounts for the crypt.
The plot is in the Westwood Village Memorial Park cemetery, which is the final resting place for several Hollywood legends including Dean Martin, Truman Capote and most recently Farrah Fawcett.
Adam Brody was left feeling disappointed during filming of upcoming movie Jennifer’S Body - because he missed out on seeing co-star Megan Fox’s breasts during her topless scene.
Fox plays a sexy cheerleader-turned-maneater in the dark comedy and strips off in one saucy shot, with only her long hair to cover her nipples.
Brody, who plays a devil-worshipping rocker in the movie, had hoped to catch a glimpse of Fox’s famous assets - but missed out.
He says, “I don’t think there are any nipples in the movie. I knew this going in and I remember being a little disappointed - like the rest of the world.”
But the former The OC star admits he was still bowled over by her beauty: “We’ve all got a little bit of a crush on Megan Fox.”
Steve Coogan remains a close friend of Owen Wilson - despite Courtney Love controversially claiming the British funnyman caused the Wedding Crashers star’s alleged suicide attempt in 2007.
Wilson was hospitalised two years ago (07) when he was found at his home in Santa Monica, Los Angeles after allegedly downing pills and slashing his wrists.
Following the incident Love, who previously dated Coogan, blamed the comedian for Wilson’s downfall, saying at the time, “I was just out of rehab, and he was right there with the drugs. I tried to warn Owen. I tried to warn his friends… I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy.”
Coogan, who starred in Night at the Museum and Around the World in 80 Days alongside Wilson, strongly denied the accusation, branding it “unfounded, unhelpful and hurtful”.
And the comic has now blasted reports his career and friendship with the Hollywood actor have deteriorated as a result of Love’s claims.
He says, “It was a complete fabrication put out about by someone who had a different agenda. In America they realised it was b******s as soon as they established that it was spread by someone who was trying to throw a grenade in my path. The industry made it very clear to me that they knew, so thankfully it had no effect on my career or my friendship with Owen.
“Yes, Owen did have a bit of a personal wobble between the first Night At The Museum film and the one we’ve just finished, but he is totally fine now. I spent last Thanksgiving with his family in Texas. We’re working together again this year. It never affected my friendship with him at all.”
Scottish actor Gerard Butler has hit back after a woman accused him of lashing out following a vicious fight between the pair’s dogs.
Butler’s unleashed pet Lolita bumped noses with Maria Vareckas’ greyhound when the pair were out walking their dogs in New York on Monday afternoon (24Aug09), sending the animals into attack mode.
Vareckas has accused the actor of “verbal abuse”, insisting Butler flew into a rage and slammed her dog’s head against a nearby fence.
Vareckas tells the New York Post, “(He was) shouting, ‘That dog should be put down!’ I said, ‘Your dog should be put on a leash.’ He kept on going and going, ranting and raving… He was being verbally abusive. (He) walks back, ranting and raving still and pointing, saying, ‘You know what? You know what? This dog should be put down!’ And he smacked the dog in the head. The dog’s head went into the fence. I was shaking. The dog yelped. I said, ‘Keep your hands off my dog! Why did you hit my dog?’ He didn’t say a word.”
However, Butler has denied the allegation, insisting he spent four hours at a Manhattan animal hospital while vets tended to Lolita’s wounds.
A spokesperson for the actor says, “What happened was, Gerry was walking his dog, Lolita, who is this little, small pug, a teeny thing. You can hold her in one arm, she’s that small. Then, suddenly, this greyhound, this huge, menacing dog, bites Lolita. She (Maria Varecka) and Gerry then have words… the dog again goes over to Lolita and takes another bite. They (the greyhound’s owners) don’t have it trained. They don’t know what they’re doing with their dog. People are so mean. They’re just trying to milk this.”
According to New York Police Department officials, no citations were issued in the incident and a complaint has not been filed against the actor.
The director behind Metallica’s gripping movie Some Kind Of Monster has teamed up with Sting’s wife Trudie Styler to shoot a new documentary about the destruction of the rainforest.
The film, Crude, chronicles an eye-opening trip Joe Berlinger and Styler took to Ecuador, and the activist actress/producer admits some of the sights she witnessed will haunt her forever.
She says, “I saw the most appalling human rights violations I’ve ever witnessed.
“I’ve seen some pretty grim sights, but nothing could prepare me for the sight of indigenous people with no access to clean water who have been systematically poisoned.”
A one-off TV show featuring Michael Jackson’s brothers recording a new album is to be extended into a full-length series.
The Thriller star’s siblings Jermaine, Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Randy Jackson were filmed by the A&E network as they put together a new record for a documentary earlier this year (09)
The five had hoped to convince Michael to appear in the show, which was slated for screening next year (10), but they failed to convince him to participate before his death in June (09).
Producers have now moved the programme’s broadcast forward to next month (Sep09) - and will produce a full-length season to follow on from it. No start date for the series has yet been scheduled.
Lance Bass has laughed off speculation he was involved in a nightclub altercation with paparazzi, insisting the reports were fabricated.
The former ‘NSYNC star was said to have found himself in a tussle with a photographer after the singer’s pal tried to block him from getting a shot as the pair exited London’s Boujis hotspot on Sunday (23Aug09).
Further reports surfaced alleging Bass and his companion were involved in a brawl, sparked by a photo which depicted Bass grappling with his pal as he held him in a headlock.
But the singer has taken to his blog to set the record straight, insisting he and his companion were merely playing around when the pictures were taken.
He writes, “Here are the fact (sic). That was not a date, just a friend, I was laughing the whole time because we had no clue there would be photogs (photographers) outside this club that I had never heard of - and we were so blinded we couldn’t see. A photog runs into my friend and they almost fall over each other. It is so funny what story you can create with a few pictures.
“I actually think it makes a better story if my friend and I were in a fight, he did have me in a choke hold for God’s sake! I do feel a little better now that one of my friends knows what it is like to have pictures taken out of context. Sorry to ruin the fun, but nothing really dramatic happened.”
Rapper Corey Miller has had another decade added on to his current life sentence for second-degree murder in connection to an unrelated nightclub shooting.
Miller, known in the industry as C-Murder, was charged with the slaying of a teen in a New Orleans club in 2002. He was given a life sentence in 2003, which was overturned in 2006 after he had spent three years in a Louisiana prison.
However, a second trial began in August (09), and the star was once again handed a life sentence.
In another blow to Miller, a Louisiana judge sentenced him to ten years behind bars on Tuesday (25Aug09) for an unrelated incident.
In May (09), Miller agreed to a plea deal with court officials by declaring no contest to two counts of attempted murder after he tried to shoot a nightclub owner and a doorman at a club in 2001 after he refused to be searched before entry.
He will serve the added 10 years consecutively to the time he will spend behind bars on the second-degree murder charge.
Although Miller is appealing the murder conviction, a judge has already thrown out a defence motion for a mis-trial.

American Pie star Jason Biggs’ recent holiday in Gibraltar turned sour when he was attacked by a wild ape which tried to steal his lunch.
The actor was visiting the self-governing British state, located at the southern tip of Spain, with his American Pie co-star Eddie Kaye Thomas when they decided to hike up the famous rock to wander through the nature reserve.
But the pair was forced to stop monkey-ing around when one of the region’s wild apes attacked Biggs and attempted to steal food from his bag.
A source tells RadarOnline.com, “Jason and Eddie decided to go on the trip to celebrate the ten year anniversary of Pie. They were hiking in the woods when this monkey suddenly leapt on Jason from a tree and tried to bite his face off!
“Jason’s travelling companions managed to fend the beast off and Jason, thankfully wasn’t seriously hurt, just shaken up.”
Thomas’ representative, Eloise Konialian, confirmed the incident, adding, “The monkey tried to attack Jason and steal food out of his bag but Eddie fended him off and saved the day.”
